Brandon is one of the original suburbs of Tampa, sitting in eastern Hillsborough County just east of the city along the Selmon Expressway, I-75 and State Road 60. Unlike the newer master-planned towns further south and east, Brandon is an established community: mature trees, a wide mix of home ages and styles, and everything you need for daily life within a few minutes' drive. For many people relocating to Tampa Bay, it hits the sweet spot between price, convenience and commute.
Why people choose Brandon
Location is Brandon's biggest strength. From here you can reach downtown Tampa, the airport, MacDill, the Westshore business district and the Gulf beaches without crossing the whole metro. Commuters who split time between Tampa and Lakeland or Orlando like it too, thanks to I-4 just to the north. Day to day, Westfield Brandon and the State Road 60 corridor put groceries, restaurants, medical offices and big-box stores close to home.
Brandon also offers variety. You'll find 1980s and 1990s single-family homes on generous lots, townhomes and condos, gated golf-course communities, and newer infill construction — a wide range of sizes, ages and styles within one area.
Neighborhoods around Brandon
"Brandon" is often used loosely for the wider area, which includes neighboring Valrico, Seffner, Dover and Bloomingdale. Valrico and Bloomingdale are known for larger lots and established subdivisions, while areas closer to State Road 60 and the mall offer shorter commutes and more townhome and condo options. If you want brand-new construction nearby, Riverview and FishHawk/Lithia are just to the south — we tour all of them.
